Wisdom Tooth Extraction Wilmington
Getting Rid of Unnecessary Teeth
Did you know wisdom teeth were once necessary for early humans because the food they ate required them? Those days are gone, which means diets have changed and people’s facial structures have, too. We don’t have enough space to support these teeth, so they become impacted or only partially erupt. At Azalea Dental, our team can remove these third molars to give your smile the space it needs to stay healthy year after year. If you or your teenager has wisdom tooth pain, book online to schedule an appointment today.

The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process
Removing impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth can happen in one of two ways: a simple tooth removal or a surgical procedure. It depends on your case. If your teeth are somewhat visible above the gumline, Dr. Heinsheimer will use dental forceps and an elevator to lift and remove them. However, if they are impacted (beneath the gumline), he will need to make a small incision in the gums and section the tooth for easy removal. We’ll suture your gums and make sure everything looks good before sending you home to recover.
